Our Guests Are Stoked About Our Trekking Trips

The pick-up was prompt, and the driver and guide were both pleasant. Adi, my guide, was excellent at communicating, checking in several times throughout the day.

He went above and beyond what was expected of him. Before we began the climb, we drank tea/coffee and ate a local snack from the starting pot.

The climb was more difficult than I had anticipated, but the guides were very patient and made me feel at ease when I needed to stop and take breaks.

We were fortunate to have a beautiful day with the sky changing from a clear starry night to a red fiery dawn and a colorful sun rise.

Before beginning the descent, we ate breakfast and explored the top of the volcano.

The descent was difficult due to the steepness. Shoes with a good grip were definitely beneficial.

Following that, the hot springs were lovely, with good facilities, a free welcome drink, and a towel and locker provided.

On the way home, make a quick stop at a coffee plantation for free samples of various coffees and teas.

I got home in time for lunch.

Tips For Climbing Mount Batur At Sunrise

Clothing:

It’s a little chilly before the sun comes up. The best outfit to wear was leggings, a sports vest, and a zip up hoody, which was ideal for the weather.

Footwear:

A proper pair of trainers would have sufficed. You need good foot support and grip, so no flip-flops or sandals.

Water:

Our tour company provides one bottle of water; however, we recommend that you bring another bottle with you.

Food:

Breakfast is included in the tour price, but it is not served until you reach the summit.

On the way up, eat a chocolate bar for energy. Also brought some sweets to suck on. Any reason for some sugar!

Toilets:

Nope, they don’t exist on volcanoes, so go before you start climbing. You’ll most likely be dehydrated, so you won’t need it until you get back. Eating carefully the day before the hike will undoubtedly help in staying fit.

Fitness:

If they truly wanted to, anyone could do it. The tour is divided into groups, allowing people to go at their own pace.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Hard Is The Hike Up The Mount Batur Volcano In Bali?

That will be the most important question for the majority of people to answer. The hike should not be too difficult if you are normally active and have a good level of cardio.

The hike takes about two hours (for most people, less if they need fewer breaks), and keep in mind that you are climbing a volcano that is 1,717 meters (5,633 feet) above sea level.

To be honest, you must consider your own personal fitness level rather than that of others. You know your own body and will be able to tell pretty early on if the hike will be difficult for you.

You don’t need to train beforehand (it’s a 2-hour hike, not a marathon! ), and as long as you take breaks when you need them, I think anyone can make it to the top.

What To Wear To Hike The Volcano?

The temperature and climate will vary from one night to the next and throughout the hike. I would recommend wearing comfortable leggings or shorts that you would normally wear to work out.

The most important thing to wear is proper trainers or hiking shoes! Bring a sweater or hoodie for the cooler parts of the hike, which will most likely be at the beginning and at the summit. These outer layers will most likely be removed as you hike.

I also recommend bringing a waterproof jacket, especially if you are hiking during the wet season or close to it, as you may get rained on!

What To Bring To Mount Batur?

Bring a small rucksack with you, as well as your waterproof gear, extra water, and snacks. I also strongly advise you to purchase a headlamp in advance.

Bring sandwiches or biscuits if you think you’ll be hungry.

Should I tip my guide?
